Unlike the rabbit, hares retain a certain mystique. Preferring to feed between dusk and dawn, shy, usually solitary and incredibly fast (our fastest land mammal, reaching speeds of 45mph), the hare remains elusive. 

Their numbers have declined 80% over the last 100 years making a glimpse of one of these majestic creatures a rare and wonderful sight.
