This is an interpretation of the way the planting around a circular ornamental pond, frame it and reflect in its surface. The pond is in the grounds of Sledmere House. The circular form makes an abstract statement but the surrounding plant forms add the movement which could be seen in the reflections in the water surface.

From relatively figurative starting points, multiple layers are created, allowing time for the subtle sensations and memories of the time and place to be included.The viewer is encouraged to look beyond the surface. Circular motifs are often contained within the composition as a reference to the continuing nature of time and the seasons.
