Lesley Williams - June Pond Oil Painting

A natural pond in the garden of Breezy Knees near Stockton on the Forest. This pond seems to have an unusual almost opaque turquoise colouring, the light bounces and the colouring of the surrounding flowers is enhanced. Gentle movement makes things vibrate and become fairytale like in atmosphere.

From relatively figurative starting points, multiple layers are created, allowing time for the subtle sensations and memories of the time and place to be included.The viewer is encouraged to look beyond the surface. Circular motifs are often contained within the composition as a reference to the continuing nature of time and the seasons.
