Collection: Nightingales Pottery - David Lewis

At Nightingales pottery I make small batches of mainly domestic ware in the village of
Welburn near Castle Howard. All pieces are wheel-thrown in stoneware clay with the aim of making forms that are both beautiful to look at and a joy to use.

Over the last 10 years I have been developing a range of unique glazes made from raw mineral powders. I am particularly interested in how glazes can combine to produce beautiful or dramatic interactions. Combining two glazes can produce colour changes, which can flow or remain static. Thus, naturalistic effects can be achieved that can be manipulated to resemble waves, stone, twigs, or light passing through leaves.

All pieces are food safe and dishwasher proof (understanding that extensive dishwasher use will have a detrimental effect on any ceramic).
