Collection: Rebecca Callis Porcelain

I have been making wheel-thrown porcelain for 23 years - 13 at Farfield Mill in Sedbergh and 10 at ‘The Factory’ in Kendal. I have recently relocated to Kirkbymoorside in North Yorkshire where I am converting a Victorian wash-house into my next studio.

I love porcelain for it’s sometimes unforgiving sensitivity to the makers hand, as a pure white canvas for the glaze and for its beautiful practicality. As my work develops over time, I hope it retains a freshness and simplicity that comes from endless possibilities of form and continuous room for improvement.

I have recently been enjoying the use of brush marks and lines to add abstract impressions of scale and place within the landscape.
