Collection: Julie Bancroft - Fine Artist

Julie is a multi-disciplinary artist based at the Art Happens Here (AHH) Collective in Malton, North Yorkshire.

Julie works in a range of media including ceramics, paint and textiles, exploring the natural world and our relationship to our wider natural environment. Her work is driven by curiosity about ideas and materials with mark making and materiality at the heart of her practice. She has a particular interest in the healing qualities of mark-making and working with natural materials through handmade processes and the ways in which this contributes to our wellbeing. Her work is slow, meditative and abstract. She completed a BA (Hons) in Textiles in 2025; her final body of work explored the expression of grief, trauma and the healing effects of stitching by hand with natural materials and this investigation continues to inform her work. She also works in ceramics and painting to explore the same ideas and combines visual art with writing on Substack, reflecting on the process of making art and the creative process.
